Why do people hate cats?

Published by jans at 10:42 am under Cat Edit This

It has always puzzled me why some people hate cats. I am not talking about a mere dislike for the creatures but an outright hate. I know of two people that will not visit our home because they know we have a cat. Neither are allergic and both of them claimed to have an unfortunate event with a cat when young. One claimed to be scratched by a cat and the other had a pet kitten die. I am sorry that I don’t believe either one of them. I have had family members die but I don’t hate humans, I also have had cuts, bumps and bruises from inanimate objects like bikes and roller skates when I was young. It did not make me hate those objects nor those activities. I think those people are just not telling the truth.

The cat has had a long history of being hated and hunted down just for being a cat. Take for example the period in history right before the bubonic plague broke out, cats were caught and burned alive. People thought that the cat was in league with the devil. After the cats were brought to twisted human judgment, the rats carrying the plague went on to multiply like crazy. We all know what happened after that.

I am still puzzled why some people hate cats.

Perhaps it is because cats are so intuitive and can see into your soul. They certainly don’t like people who dwell in the negative or who are very self absorbed.
Cats really do see all, and are so mysterious that it does make people uncomfortable.
I am so grateful that I am not one of those people. I’d be lost without mine! :)
