Homemade flea and fly spray
Did you know that you probably have the ingredients for a flea spray right in your kitchen? I am going to give you a recipe for a homemade flea spray that will get rid of fleas but also flies as well. We use to make the mixture up for use outside in our patio area and spray the area for 2 days prior to an outdoor event like a party or BBQ.
The mixture is a 3 part mix. I use a garden sprayer that attaches to a hose. I put the main 2 ingrediants in and the 3rd ingrediant is water which is added by using the sprayer. Here is what you put in the garden sprayer: 50% Pine Sol and 50% vinegar. Turn on the hose and spray the area until wet. You can spray barn aisles, patios, kennels and any outside area you want to have flea and fly free. When the area is dry the spray will still work to repel for at least 24 hours.
Pine Sol is known to be a knock out chemical for fleas. You can add Pine Sol to any shampoo and wash your dog but be warned that it will only knock the fleas out and not kill them. That is the reason for the vinegar, to finish off what the Pine Sol started. Unless you want your dog to smell like vinegar and Pine Sol you can always buy a flea shampoo at the Dollar store.
Some cats have bad recations to Pine Sol so you want to be careful when using the spray around areas where cats are know to be.
