The ideal horse for a child new to horses

Published by jans at 11:35 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I have my nephew coming to visit us this summer. He is 10 and not use to being around big livestock. I know he is going to want to be around the horses so I have the perfect horse that he can get use to - our miniature horse, Moe.

Moe is 3 years old and is trained to pull a cart and walk on a lead while being led from a bicycle.  He is the right size for my nephew to learn how to groom and handle a horse. I can also teach him to put the haness on Moe and learn how to drive the cart.

It will be an interesting summer.

A three year old horse seems a bit young to be trusted with children, but I guess it depends on the horse. Moe is super pretty, btw.

Sorry for the confusion but that is NOT a picture of Moe. That is a stock photo showing a Miniature horse. Moe is a blue roan and is not trained to be ridden. Also if you have ever owned a Miniature horse you would know that they have a calmer personality than the regular size horses. Many things that would spook a regular size horse does not even bother a mini.
